In terms of D.P.I. West Bengal’s Memo No. ED-435/96 dated 31/7/96 the Vice Chancellor of University  of  Burdwan  has  been pleased to grant provisional extension of affiliation in Defence Studies (General) with effect from the academic session 1996-97 with an intake  of  50(fifty) students.  The carpet area of the department is approx 80 Sq. ft.  Initially, Sri  Dulal Chandra Mal, M.A. in Pol. Sc. (N.C.C. Major)  a guest teacher acted as H.O.D of the department, Dr. Malayendu Maity – M.A.(Military Science) Ph.D. , joined in  1998 and continued  upto 2006 and  Dipankar Jana ,  M.A. (Military Science)  who joined in  2006  (State Aided College Teacher)   and  Srikanta Adhikari ,M.A. (Military Science) who joined in 2017 (State Aided College Teacher) and now acting as H.O.D. of this department. Non-teaching staff : Gobinda Chandra Mondal – B.Com.(NCC ‘C’ Certificate)1996- 2013. Dinabandhu Singharay –B.Com. -2014 -2016, Asish kumar Batabyal (H.S.)- 2017 to till date. At present, the  Student Strength in the department is -000(SEM-II,SEM-IV,SEM-VI)   . Department is fully equipped  with all sorts of  map's and equipment's  like : Pistol Model-12,Compass- 13, Tank Model- 12, Kaman- 06, Plane-13, Helicoptar-02, Durbin-01,Laser Distance Meter-01, Sand Model Set-01,Morter Model-02, Air Gun(Rifle) Model-09, Granade Model-1, Map-30, Computer set-1, Almirah-1, Wall rack-2,Laptop-1, Weighing Machine-03, Projecter-01pcs. The student's of this department publish Wall Magazine every year. They also organize and take part in Student's Seminar and Quiz Competition andTeacher's Day. Teacher's & Student's relationship is excellent and the activities of the Department are performed smoothly with co-operation of the principal. Department organized parent-teacher meeting and metoring programme. The student's of the department of Defence Studies are achieving good results in University Examinations for the last few year and most of the student's of the department are also cracking different competitive examinations and some of them are well placed in different presitgious sectors.
