The department of Philosophy, Rabindra Mahavidyalaya, Champadanga, Hooghly initiated its journey in the session 1972-73 with the General course. The Honours Course started in the academic session 1998-99. At present the student strengths in the department are 144 and 481 for the Honours and General students respectively. Currently this department has three part-time teachers i.e. Sima Chaudhuri, Sukla Saha and Sanchita Kheto. The department has got library consisting of 171 numbers of books. Departmental seminars, Teacher’s Day have been organized as a part of student activity. Counseling, mentoring and class test, have been organized as a part of departmental activity. Three students got 1st class in the academic session 2013-14. One student got 1st class in the present session.
